A South African woman has been charged for carrying drugs at Dubai airport on her way to homeland.
Aisha Hassan, 32, policewoman, testified that the accused arrived at Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 3 on July 24, 2010.
“My colleague Abdul Rahman Saif suspected the passenger and asked me to search her. I noticed that one of her two bags had abnormally heavy bottom, creating a hole in the bottom. On searching it, I found substance which turned out to be heroin. On questioning her, the accused fearfully and confusingly claimed that her friend had supplied her with the bags to deliver it to his brother in South Africa,” the policewoman testified.
Abdul Rahman Saif, 32, policeman, told the court that the passenger was transiting through Dubai on her way to South Africa. “I suspected when I saw her at the transit hall of Terminal 3 as she looked worried and scared. I asked her air ticket from which I found that she had two luggage bags. While screening the bags, the device showed an orange-coloured substance at the bottom of the bag and I reported her to my senior,” he testified.
The accused said she was unaware of drugs hidden in her bag. The court adjourned the case till March 22.
