Dubai's new Al Maktoum Airport, which began cargo operations two years ago, expects to open its long-delayed passenger terminal by the end of 2013, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al-Maktoum said on Tuesday. Sheikh Ahmed is president of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and chairman of Dubai Airports.
“We are finalizing our 2013 finances, and we expect it to be announced by the second week of September,” Chief Executive Officer Paul Griffiths told reporters last night. The budget, which will be determined with Dubai’s Department of Finance, isn’t directly related to the expansion plans, and all options for raising those funds remain open, he added.
